JustGiving

JustGiving was started in early 2000 by two women, Zarine Kharas and Anne-Marie Huby, with a simple, but big, vision. They wanted to help break down the barriers to fundraising, and to use the internet to allow people to raise more for the charities they care about.  With the help of some visionary investors, they created JustGiving, the UK's first online fundraising website. They made sure it was quick and easy to use, and 100% secure to donate through

You can help Headway Oxfordshire through the JustGiving website. There are three simple ways to do this:

  • Make a single donation
  • Set up a regular monthly donation
  • Start your own JustGiving page fundraising for Headway Oxfordshire

Donations made via the JustGiving website automatically includes GiftAid, which in turn helps Headway Oxfordshire even further.

Legacy Giving

Why leave a legacy to charity?

Leaving a gift to charity in your will is an amazing way for your generosity to last beyond your own lifetime. If you are considering leaving a legacy to support our work at Headway Oxfordshire please accept our sincere thanks. It would help us enormously to know of your intention and we have made it as simple as possible for you to advise us - just complete the form below and return it to us or ask your solicitor to do so. Headway Oxfordshire would advise anyone making a new Will, or updating their existing Will, to contact a solicitor to help you to do this properly.

Remembering Headway Oxfordshire in your Will

If you would like to leave a legacy in your Will to Headway Oxfordshire, it is essential that certain pieces of information are properly included in your Will, including the full name of Headway Oxfordshire and the registered charity number (299377).  When you remember someone in your Will, you are said to leave them a "bequest" or a "legacy". There are different kinds of legacies which can be left in a Will. The most common types of legacy are:

  • Residuary legacy

A residuary legacy allocates a set share or percentage of your whole estate, after payment of all your debts, funeral expenses and any other legacies. This type of gift in your Will means that however much your financial circumstances change, the proportion of your estate, by share or percentage, that each beneficiary receives will stay the same. This is the best possible way to leave a gift to Headway Oxfordshire.

  • Pecuniary legacy

A legacy to Headway Oxfordshire of a fixed sum of money is called a "pecuniary legacy". This is most appropriate where you wish to leave a definite cash sum, but because of the effects of inflation a legacy like this may lose its real value over time.

  • Specific legacy

It is possible to leave a specific item as a legacy in your Will. This is known as a specific legacy - for example, a piece of jewellery or a painting. Normally, you would leave this to Headway Oxfordshire because you know that we would be able to use the item for our work, or because we would be able to sell the item and use the sale proceeds towards our work.

  • Contingent legacy

A legacy in your Will can sometimes be made subject to a special condition. The legal term for this is a "contingent legacy". This type of legacy usually depends upon a future event which may or may not happen. For example, you might leave your estate to a named relative but, if they die before you, you could leave your estate to Headway Oxfordshire instead.

In Memoriam

It is sometimes preferred that mony is donated to a favourite charity, rather than towards flowers for a funeral. This is a very personal choice made by the family, but a wonderful way of helping any charity.

Should you wish to help Headway Oxfordshire by making donations In Memory of a loved one, we would be most grateful. These gifts would support Headway Oxfordshire in their work of supporting people affected by an Acquired Brain Injury throughout the county - individuals, families and carers.

To acknowledge and recognise these special donations Headway Oxfordshire would publish, each year in the Annual Review, a list of those who have had In Memory donations made in their name.
How do you give donations In Memory?

Normally, relatives can use the service of the funeral director who will look after all cash and cheques given by family and friends in memory.  It is also possible to set up an In Memory page online at Just Giving, which allows donations online to be made by credit/debit cards, and would further benefit the charity through the addition of 25% Gift Aid - at no extra cost to the donor.

Cheques can also be sent straight to Headway Oxfordshire but please remember to tell us details of who the donation is in memory of, and to complete and send a Gift Aid form if applicable.

All cheques should be made payable to "Headway Oxford".   Should you require any further advice or information please contact us on 01865 326263.
